Embroidery from the 50s and 60s

Embroidery from the 50s and 60s

Published 2015 by Hemslöjden, Ann Sofie Svansbo & Anna Lindqvist. Soft cover, text in Swedish
This book is for anyone who loves the distinctive style and colourful embroidery from the 1950s and 60s.
Silver roses by Elsa Agelii, Grasshopper in shades of blue and green by Ingrid Dessau, and Birgitta Werner-Johansson’s ingeniously-shaped precious stone series are some of the embroideries in this new book, Embroidery from the 1950s and 60s.
The book contains instructions for 10 designs from the original embroidery so that you can embroider them yourself, as well as inspiring illustrations of other examples from the era’s treasure chest of patterns created during a time when embroidery was at its height.
During this period, many of the foremost textile artists worked in conjunction with Sweden’s Handcraft Association.
